I blamed it on the B70 forcing me out of control like a cork.
It's heartening to hear that A) somebody really good did this, and B) it is actually a legitimate excuse.
When I swam the 100 free in the B70, I felt so smooth that I went out faster on the first 50 then I had gone all year in a 50 by itself (after you subtract .5 for touching with your feet as opposed to your hand.) Anyhow, on the final length, I paid the price. My arms turned to tungsten and it was hard to finish.
I still got my best time of the year, but not by that much. I think the suit suckered me to swim a different race from what works best for me.
The next day, I kept this in mind for the 200, paced much better, and dropped quite a bit of time off my season's previous best.
