Richard is such a good man and I pray that he will make it thru. After just losing Don McKenize I am in a state shock. Richard Quick is such a gentlemen and a great coach. We all need to pray for him.
That's very sad to hear. I attended Stanford Swim Clinics over a few summers as a young club swimmer in the mid 90's. Richard Quick and Skip Kenny put them on together, along with top Stanford athletes and Olympians. I was in awe of both of them, as coaches and men.
Best wishes and prayers for a swift recovery!
Thanks for posting the information. There as been a "Prayer Pager" number set-up for Coach Quick.
Anytime someone says a prayer, they can dial the number annoyumusly and it will vibrate, letting Coach Quick know that someone is praying for him.
334-742-5224 is the number, if anyone is interested.
Swim Across America, a fantastic fundraising organization that "is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming- related events," has provided a channel to support Richard Quick and others affected by cancer:

You can donate and/or swim in Coach Quick's honor. Be sure to check out the other SAA events this year (www.swimacrossamerica.org). They are fun, well-run, and for a worthy cause, of course.
Disclaimer: I don't work for SAA--I'm just an enthusiastic participant.
