I agree with your thinking on this one. I was swimming in San Fran bay, when it was about 60-61 degrees. It felt great! Why ruin a swim with a wetsuit.
just about any day of the week... any time of day.... one can find up to a dozen swimmers at aquatic park. many nekked.
it just goes to show that training in such conditions will prepare one to swim in such conditions. trying to make any activity totally risk free for everyone can only diminish the experience.
