I made my resolutions less than I normally would as I have had difficulty keeping them in the past. So for 2009... 1. In the pool at least 3 times a week 2. In the gym with weights at least 3 times a week 3. Give up soda That is to start. I am also going to try and maintain a good attitude and stop making excuses.
  • New Year's Resolutions are s***, if something is worth doing then it should done. Waiting until some arbitrary date is silly and needlessly forestalls action. Just do it! oh wait, that is trademarked ;)

Since joining masters coincides with the new year, I guess my goals can be resolutions as well: - Swim 4x a week and lift 3x - Get back to my high school times and then- - Go under :31 and 1:10 in the 50 and 100yd br I'm about 7 years removed from club and high school swimming, but still young on the masters scale, so I think those are very reachable goals.

brought my 500F time down to 5:29 from 6:13 last year. Looking to go below 5:00 by the end of this year, and hope all the other times improve across the board likewise
  • I resolve to swim a 200 SCY fly. Then if it turns out not to be the worst experience ever, maybe I'll race one, or swim one LCM. I accomplished my resolution. tjrpatt and pwbrundage, you were right: I have had much worse swimming experiences than the 200 fly (the 50 breaststroke for instance, and the 100 IM). Several people cautioned me that I could not take the first 100 too easy, so I didn't really work at all until the last 50, when I was sure I would finish. I think I will try it again.

Way to go, Ourswimmer! If you try it in LCM, like you mentioned in your resolution, use the same conservative strategy. LCM is a different animal.

Good job on doing the 200 fly. See, you want to do it again. Hope you enjoy your LCM 200 fly.

I do think the 200 fly can be a fun event if you play around with pacing and swim it smart. Sounds like you did.
