How'd you do with your 2009 Swimming Resolutions?
Here were the goals I laid out:
As for 2009, these are straightforward, but still somewhat ambitious:
Training: At the start of each season/month/week, lay out a training plan and then stick with it. Training plan should include a set of "must do" workouts followed by a set of "nice to have" additions.
I have done this for the SCY season and, as I posted today in my blog (forums.usms.org/blog.php, I'm on target for the meager two initial weeks.
Competition:
Swim every event at least once in a meet in the SCY season.
Beat target times in at least 2 of my 4 target events:
500 free: go under 4:40
went 4:52 in 2008, but SCM time converts to about 4:46
400 IM: go under 4:05
went 4:17 in 2008, but SCM time converts to about 4:11
200 free: go under 1:44
went 1:48.8 in 2008, but SCM time coverts to about 1:46
200 IM: go under 1:56
didn't swim in 2008, but went 2:02.7 in 2006 and my SCM time converts to 1:58.4
My results:
Training: pretty solid ... definitely the most-planned and best-executed training of my Master's career. But, still a lot of room for improvement.
Competition:
Swam every event in SCY!
As for goal times, assuming converting SCM to SCY counts, I made 1 of 4 and close on another:
200 free: SCM time converts to 1:43.4! (goal sub-1:44)
400 free: my SCM time converts to about 4:40
400 IM: didn't approach 4:05, but dropped to 4:12
200 IM: got closer with a 1:57.4
WHAT ARE YOUR 2010 Swimming Resolutions?
500 free: 4:30!
