Phoenix brophy Prep breaks ties with Brophy East Swim Team

Sadly one of the best masters teams I've trained with and an age group program with a storied past (Phoenix Swim Club) on the upswing is losing its financial support and will be trying to raise funds to continue operating in some form. At this point it appears that Brophy Prep is willing to lease the facility back to the teams but it will most likely be a challenge to raise funds right now...although most other teams have to operate this way so they are in no way unique with this.
  • Makes one want to send in an entry for the 2009 AZ SCY state meet immediately, sort of like getting your new Shivvy truck before the bankruptcy court messes things up. I'll be sending mine I to what I hope will be the Phoenix swim club reborn. Mel...you have not given any support to your so called "home team" in years...won't join the facebook "group" for AZ masters, won't come to any meets, won't swim for us in any meets...so what's up?

  • I don't know, Paul, you guys just aren't as much fun as you used to be. Maybe if Stites can get a meet in their new SCM pool, we'll come down again. Mel, we are more fun than ten barrels of monkeys these days, minus the flying poop of course. The meets are getting bigger again, we got at least five open water swims next year in the queue, and our National Team (thanks to Paul Smith) is rockin'. When I spoke with Mark Rankin on Sunday during workout, he stated that they will be fine for a while. He is planning on a large (~300 swimmers) SCY State meet in the spring. No date has been set yet but their pool is top-notch and the weather should be perfect that time of year. Jim Stites is talking about an SCM meet in September of 2009 at the new pool. That should be interesting because the pool is a diving well...deep and fast methinks. BTW, make sure you have our website linked, lots of good information there: www.azlmsc.org and click on the Events link... See you back in AZ soon!

More like late March or more like right before Nationals? I maaayyy just have to come to this meet since AZ is so much fun!!
