Anyone swim w/ DAM (Dallas) or MARS (Mid-Cities Arlington)?
Former Member
I am visiting the Dallas / Ft. Worth area next week and wanted to get in some workouts. Options close by are DAM (Dallas Area Masters) and/or MARS (Mid-cities Arlington Swimming).
Anyone swim with these groups? If so, could you tell me what the workouts are like? Thanks in advance!

I swim DAMM.
Check out www.damswim.com
Click on "Pools and Locations" to see a pix and which ones are close.
Also go to "Practices" to see what time workouts are.
My recommendation to anyone visiting is any workout at Baylor/Tom Landry Fitness Center. It is a really nice club. You get:
SCM in a nice pool
Free towel use - the nice, big fluffy ones!
Free shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, mouthwash, Qtips and cotton balls, plus hairdryers (women's lockers);
Hottub in pool area - a really nice big one!
All you need to bring is your suit, cap, and goggles. They also have kick boards, fins, and pull buoys.
A full size locker with key.
Mornings - take your pick.
Evening - a lot of people favor the SMU workouts. They are outdoors LCM but really cold. Crappy locker rooms but heated floors make up for it a bit.
Workouts are typically 2500-3000 and 1 hour long.
To attend, go to "Free week of workouts" and fill it out then print it out. Bring it with you to the pool; they won't let you in without it. Email anyone under the "Contact us" link, I suggest Bobby Patten or Laurie Dunlap to let them know you might be coming, and not actually joining the team. That's it! We have our own insurance so you don't have to bring your USMS card, but I would bring it anyway.
