My current pair of jammers (Nike) are about to give up the ghost (and a lot more of me if I keep wearing them). I need to replace them.
Between Nike, Tyr, and Speedo, who makes the most durable jammers? I don't want to spend more than $30-40.
Also, what's the best way to care for jammers? Is it bad to dry them by wrapping them in a towel and twisting it? How do I keep them from getting all stretched out?
This is a common topic on this forum. Seems many are very satisfied with Speedo Endurance + suits. I wear mine 3-5 times a week and can't wear the dang things out, indestructible. I alternate my two and both are well over a year old. You will most likely pay more than $30 but the longevity makes up for the price. They will not stretch at all.
One of my kids also wears the female endurance + suits for practice and has outgrown them before wearing them out.
My vote would be for the speedo endurance suits as well. The first one I've worn lasted about 6 months (swimming between 5-8 times a week). The stitching gave out on the seam in the posterior region (the fabric is still good and I may see if it can be stitched back up).

Endurance is the way to go for practice suite, nothing else comes close. I have worn Nike, Tyr, regular Speedo, and even some Mexican brand suit over the past decade. Get a couple online and you will be set for at least a year if not more.
As for care, the water extractors are the best, otherwise I would hang them in the shower at home and let them drip dry.
I've been wondering the same thing as well, I like the way Speedo Jammers feel but I don't know if they are the best in durability, Swimming twice a day daily I wear through a pair in about a month. I'm trying TYR and I've noticed that they are a bit less tight than my Speedos are initally. I'm hoping that this change doesn't mean they will stretch more quickly, I'm excited to see. :)
I haven't tried Nike, how do they feel? They might be my next pair, just for good measure. :P
Go with anything polyester-like the speedo endurance line. My son has 2 he has worn for 12 + month and they are neither faded nor stretched.
I did have to buy him a new pair this season because he lost a lot of weight and one thing polyester suits don't have is elasticity.
So the old once looked a little baggy, but other than that still brand new.
You can find basic endurance suits for less than 40 on swimoutlet.
As for the care -just rinse with water-no soap- squeeze out water and hang to dry.
Let me throw in my vote for the Speedo Endurance suits as well. I have a couple of suits that are easily over a year old and are still going strong with no fading, stetching, or bagging. They are great. I did switch from jammers to the shorter square leg suits about about a year and a half ago. In March of this year, I switched to briefs with a drag suit over them for training. I had to get over the modesty issue with the shorter cut suits. I eventually realized that the jammers are no less revealing than briefs, they just provide the illusions of modesty.
Back to the fabric, I think Speedo's endurance fabric is much more durable and get less baggy than the equivalent material from Tyr or Dolphin (I haven't tried any others). I haven't purchased as suit in any other fabric in quite some time.
I just threw out a speedo endurance suit that I have had for almost a year (10 months). I used it probably 3-4 days a week for 2 hours.
I got rid of it because it started chaffing my waist. Physically it was still in perfect shape.
I've had a pair of the speedo endurance jammers since I switched to jammers, which was about 6 months ago.
The only thing worn is the back but that is because I sit on the deck with it on do so other stupid things.
As far as material wise, the Polyester jammers seem to last the longest. I have a pair of speedo lyrca jammers and they are pretty worn...you can almost see thru them!:afraid:
