If you were a swim coach in Division I, what would you think of the below times done by a JUNIOR (male) in HS?
50 free: 20.24
100 free 44.73
200 free 1:38.39
100 back 50.03
Times in SCY.
The times were actually done by two different juniors at the Alabama State High School Meet over the weekend.
T.J. Leon did the times in the 50 and 100 free.
Woody Joye did the times in the 200 free and 100 back.
I'm hopeful that Auburn and Alabama have their eyes on these two kids when recruiting time comes in 2009. I'd really like to keep this kind of talent in the state.

Better not let them know there is quality dentistry practiced in nearby states and that wooden teeth aren't a requirement for ages 25 and up.
I have a friend who's son had times slower than these and he went to a big time D 1 program so I suspect if these kids stay true to training they can go pretty much wherever they want.
I just looked up some more times on these guys. Really impressive and done as 16 year olds!
Leon - 100 fly - 49.07
Joye - 200 I.M. - 1:50.84
400 I.M. - 3:52.89
I would like to see his 200 free come down. Plus, see his 200 back times and 500 free. He does have very good times.
I would also want to know what kind of person he is(trouble maker or good, respectful kid), how are his grades?
Know what is current height and weight. Is he still have more growing to do. What type of strength training is being done, if any. What are this other interests besides swimming?

They probably do but can't do much until July 1 of the summer before their senior year. If they both continue to improve, then a lot of more schools will be interested in them, which is good for those boys.
I think there will be plenty of interest given their current times.
I am not saying they won't. Hope they do continue to swim and improve but nothing is certain, that is what I am saying.
