A little background: I'm 49 and a breaststroker, so this was a B70 test specific for the so-called evil stroke. I purchased a B70 nero comp kneeskin last week. I'm 5' 10", 174 lbs. Got an M26 as recommended by Roque Santos.
I'm in mid-taper for the Georgia Senior State meet this weekend (USAS). I did a similar workout for both days of testing, trying to keep the testing conditions as similar as possible.
My testing included distance and speed testing specific to breaststroke:
Distance test: This was done using a grab-start dive and underwater pullout with a 200 BR mind set. The goal was to see how far I went before my head broke the surface.
Test 1 date: Thursday, 12/4
Warmup/practice distance: 1,550 yards, sprint-work 50s and 25s
Test: 3 dives from the block with underwater pullouts
Suit: Speedo Endurance square leg
Distances: 42', 42' 43': average 42'
Test 2 date: Monday, 12/8
Warmup/practice distance: 1,950 sprint-work, 100s, 50s, and 25s
Test: 3 dives from the blocks with underwater pullouts
Suit: B70 nero comp kneeskin
Distances: 43', 43', 44': average 43'
Speed test: This was a set of 2x25 on about 2:00 using a dive from the blocks, coach timed from his go. Done at the end of practice.
Test 1 date: Friday, 12/5
Warmup practice distance: 1,450 sprint-work, 75s and 25s
NOTE: I felt really good in this practice
Test: 2x25 sprint breaststroke for time from a dive
Suit: Speedo Endurance square leg
Times: 13.5, 13.6
Test 2 date: Monday, 12/8
Warmup practice distance: 1,950 sprint-work, 100s, 50s, and 25s
NOTE: I felt particularly sluggish in practice today
Test: 2x25 sprint breaststroke for time from a dive
Suit: B70 nero comp kneeskin
Times: 12.4, 12.7!!!!!!!!!:bliss:
OMG - I couldn't believe it, especially considering how icky I felt. I demanded the coach show me the watch. Sure enough 12.4 on the first one. I think I'll keep the suit...
Last note: I'm actually in a retaper mode. I shaved and tapered for a USMS SCM meet in mid-November that I swam in a FSII jammer. I'll have to convert my times from that meet to SCY, but I'll be curious to see the comparison...
