My brother Tom raced him in Nova Scotia when the US Fleet came during the war. My brother had taken some prisoners to BC and had stopped in Hamilton Ontario on his way back to the East Coast. They phoned Tom at our house and told him to get to the Mount Hope Airport just outside of Hamiton. They picked my brother up in a Mosquito Bomber and flew him to the meet.
Alan was a great swimmer.
