pointers on my butterfly

I am a high school swimmer looking to improve his stroke. on camera i got a the 50 and a stroke but altogether 1:08 from a push off. www.youtube.com/watch my personal best is a 1:06 from a block, going out a 32 coming back a 34 (my turns could have been much better).

    Do you swim year round? Or just during the high school season? Do you have a good coach? I swim the 50 fly not the 200 so I don't have much to offer specifically for the 200 except you should practice your pacing before your race. The 2nd 100 will be ugly and painful if you go too fast at the beginning. Take the first 100 smooth more than fast and smooth. I think if you finish with your stroke reasonably intact you will have a better time than if your 150 is OK and your last 50 ugly. My son occasionally swims the 200 fly. Last year when his 100 time was about 55 his 200 time was about 2:05. As for conditioning - all of your normal aerobic conditioning work will help your fly. Many coaches say you should not swim fly in practice if your stroke breaks down. So you will not swim 200 fly sets often. But you may swim fly sets in 50s or 100s instead.
