Just curious how many yards or meters USMS folks do per week.
I swim independently (i.e. not on a team) for about 45 mins before work, 4 or 5 days per week.
Depending on what type of workout I do, and how lazy I feel, I do 1,500 - 2,000 yards per day. Lately, more than half of my workout is breastroke. So, my range is anywhere from 6,000 - 10,000 yards per week. That is for the two months leading up to a meet. If I am more than 2 months from a swim meet, I swim once or twice per week, and lift weights twice a week.
I am 41, and swam the 100 yd *** in 1:08, and 50 yd *** in 31 at my last meet. My 100 yd free time is somewhere in the mid-high 50's, but I haven't swam it in over a year.
I would love to hear what other folks are doing for yardage, and what times you are getting out of 'em.
I swim 4-5 days per week (preferably five, but lately it's been four). Most days practice are 1.5 hours and I usually swim 5,000 yards or slightly more. On days where practices are an hour it's more like 3,500 yards.
6 days a week.
1 day for 1.5 hours - 5500yds,
4 days for ~1 hour - 3600 yds,
2 days for ~.75-1 hour - 2000-2500 yds.
Averages about 22,000/week.
3 days for the hour.
1+3+2=6
Wow, you guys are all making me feel like a lazy sprinter (which I am).
Clearly I spend a lot more time chatting with the lifeguards than the rest of you do...

What is funny to me is when the lifeguards notice when I have a long or short distance day. Apparently they get bored of watching the water aerobics class.

That is funny. One lifeguard at my pool can tell how much of a workout I have left by looking at my stroke. Someone came into my lane to share it with me, and I told her that I was almost done. She said, "I know...the lifeguard looked at you and said that you only had about 200 yards left in you, and I should take your lane."
I swim 4x a week for about 50 min per workout (that's really all the time I have). 1650K x 4=6600 yds per week. Slow and paltry but I am just getting back into shape and I'm pretty slow right now. I've missed a week and a half in the pool due to illness. Can't wait to get back.
