  • Kicking speed is a function of your: + push off or dive + streamline + body proportions, + kicking technique, + foot size and flexibility, + how much your knees hyperextend, + kicking conditioning, + psych, expectations, and mental toughness, + suit, + taper situation and + habits. Vertical kicking might help conditioning but it's nearly impossible to measure performance other than saying you worked the set. You forgot the single most important point...core strength. So many masters swimmers "mule kick" from their knee's vs. high in their core and you need to evaluate if the reason is bad technique or a weak core.
