Someone is asking me this question which I don't know the answer. For a U.S. women's swimsuit size 10, 14, what are the equivalent European sizes and UK sizes, respectively? (I suppose European size is not the same as UK size.) Hopefully someone can answer as there are some European folks here who may also be familiar with U.S. swimwear? Thanks. Oh yes she mentioned the dress sizes are U.S. 6, and 10 (or 12?), smaller than swimsuit size.

Here are some sizing charts: www.swim-shop.com/.../arena_suit_sizing.php Note that for women's suits in the U.S., there are a couple of different sizing systems. One system follows women's dress sizes: 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, etc. Suits sized in this manner typically seem to be "fashion" swimsuits. The second system, which is used by Speedo, Tyr, and others, is based on chest size: 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, etc. The sizing charts in the link above show both systems.
  • depends on the maker. i have some european arena suits. i wear speedo 30 now a 32 -i think they have changed sizing. for uk suits a 30 is pretty equal to a 30 US size. i can wear 36 french or german and 40 or 42 italian. yikes, it is complicated. i never go by the chest or hip size in the swim catalogues.

I had the same problem, and i asked swimoutlet about it, they said the bust-size is the european size, so if a swimsuit says 36" in bustsize, then its about a size 36. I havent ordered yet, so i have no experience with it myself yet.
