Swim goggles buying guide

My question is: why would you use a guide for something swimming related that is written by a non-swimmer?

Goggle fit is very individual, what most people recommend may be bad for you, and vice versa. Only some general observations may be useful, e.g. it seems that Barracuda is generally more comfortable, Aqua Sphere is generally better for high nose ridges, but the only way to find best fit is to try as many as you can.

My question is: why would you use a guide for something swimming related that is written by a non-swimmer? If someone reviews products on the their ability to fit your face and not leak, I don't think it matters how well they swim, no? People who read car reviews in Consumer Reports don't seem to care that they aren't written by Indy and NASCAR drivers.

I also find the Baracuda Standard very comfortable and they leave no marks as stated in the article. I am a lucky one. I can wear them out of the box with only some goggle strap adjustment and their great, others have a real hard time getting them fitted and give up on them. They are "expensive" at 32 dollars avg price but the soild plastic goggles are catching up it seems . One thing about the "cudas" is that theres a repair kit for 6 dollars that gives you new foam, head band clips so there like new after. One other goggle that a lot of people like and works good too is the Speedo Hydro Spex or Hydro Spex Jr. They fit a lot of people very easily and are in the 14 dollar price range and last a long time .. (till the side clips give out).. probably so you have to get a new pair ..lol. I have a pair they work great but leave a bit of the old raccon eyes behind..and they were not tested. One thing I noticed about this article is they shilled goggles that "look great".. hey whats really important to swimmers..what works.. or 'looks great" come on..we are REAL SWIMMERS not HOLLYWOOD stars.. Or else we would swim freestyle with our heads up ..like Tarzan! LOL

If someone reviews products on the their ability to fit your face and not leak, I don't think it matters how well they swim, no? However the articler (did I just coin a new word?) reviewed products on their ability to fit "their own" face and not mine or yours, and as innumerable posts have repeatedly said, different faces .....different goggles. I use several different brands and styles and find that some days my face structure must have changed because the goggle that didn't leak all of last week, is leaking today and v.v.
