Not sure if this has been asked here... For me, the first reason is that I don't want to be drowned in case of accident  . The last reason is that I'm proud to tell people I swim :D . In between there are a lot of other reasons.

Because I've loved the water since I was a toddler
Because I took private swim lessons most of my life and was good at it.
Because I grew up in Southern California where swimming is a year round activity.
Because I just simply love it
Because I feel wonderful after a swim. I don't feel the same way after a workout in the gym. It's a different feeling altogether.
Because I can still swim after 20 years out of the water.
