Do we need chlorine removal shampoo?

If you wear silicone swim cap, the hair doesn't get that much chlorine, does it?

  • I found that the chlorine removal shampoos left my hair more damaged than the others. What I did instead was wear a cap, keep my hair relatively short, and use Aveda hair detoxifier (with Aveda conditioner of some sort). Some stylists recommend wetting your hair in the shower beforehand and putting a little bit of conditioner in too. That may be more worthwhile if you have longer hair but for me the aforementioned combo works fine. Yes, the cap traps more heat but it keeps hair out of your face and enables you to have decent hair. YMMV but that has been my experience.
