One 100 free to go in set. Two open lanes.(no lane lines in pool) Noodler comes over to stand in my lane to talk with friend. Pool is set at 85 degrees cause all the noodlers say it is to cold otherwise. I complain to guard, am told, "well there are a lot more of them then there are lap swimmers" Wont be if they keep this up. UGH! :frustrated:

Wow! These stories are amazing. I guess I am lucky in that the pool where I swim also has a separate therapy pool where all of the noodlers hang out. The old club I belonged to, I quit because they seemed to think that 5 of the 6 lanes of the pool should always belong to noodlers - and you had to reserve the swim lane a week in advance, and they would only let you reserve one day at a time. This started a month after I joined, and had already paid a year in advance. After about a 2 month dispute they refunded my money.

I wonder what color noodle was used in perpetrating this crime. (And what the heck is wrong with that woman? Did she think the watermelon walked back up on the beach herself?)

Man accused of attacking woman with swim noodle over watermelon dispute at Lowdermilk Park www.naplesnews.com/.../ NAPLES, FLORIDA — An East Naples man is accused of attacking a woman with his swim noodle then punching her in the face on the beach at Lowdermilk Park. Karl Ludwig Eichner, 68, was arrested Thursday by Naples officers at the 1200 block of Gulfshore Boulevard on a battery charge. According to the arrest report: A woman who was at the beach with a friend observed a rotting watermelon that had been carved and shaped into a head sitting on the sand. The watermelon seemed to have been abandoned so she placed it in the ocean in hopes that it would disintegrate and not attract any bugs. Eichner retrieved the watermelon from the ocean and placed it back on the beach. The woman placed the watermelon in the ocean once again. Eichner approached the woman with his swim noodle full of water and dumped the water on her as she was sitting on her towel. He then punched her in the cheek.

  • I should have read this thread in March I might have been able to laugh off my noodler experience. I was actually asked BY THE LIFEGUARD to leave the pool during an open swim because I was swimming 'too fast' and upsetting his pool full of (very territorial) noodlers. To this day no one at our Y gets what is wrong with the noodler pods but they can't figure out how to get more revenue from their pool. They are, as a gorup, extremely rude and create a huge safety hazard. In most cases the lifeguard should be the one managing the swimmers so that everyone can do their thing safely- that includes telling noodlers to move or putting them in a lane all their own.
  • I just wonder why pool managers can't create fast lanes for swimmers and slow lanes for noodlers, to set signs and to make lifeguards in their pools to take care about people to swim on the proper lane? Is it so difficult? In our pool we have lanes for fast swimming but instructors don't care where people swim and if I show noodlers that they are on the wrong lane some of them get angry. Now I found a kinda acceptable solution - I come to the pool at 7am - all noodlers are sleeping yet :D
  • Does anyone know of a list of etiquette rules for mixed swimming? I would love to have one to post. I am so tired of being asked (or told!) to move to another lane! This happened to me, again, today. I was the only one in the pool (4 lanes, 2 with stripes) when two enormous people arrived, mother, early 50's, and son, early 30's. They are walking circles in the entire shallow end. After two near collisions I stop and ask the man if they need to walk on the line I'm swimming, when they have the entire rest of the pool. He says, yes, they do, since only part of it is shallow enough to walk in, and then says, "You're supposed to swim over there (lane with no black line in it), that's why they put the lane line there." I say, "No, they put the lines on the bottom of the pool for people to swim here." Him: "No, you're supposed to be over there." Me: "You can walk where you like but I am swimming on this line." I am really trying to coexist. Maybe written rules for mixed use would help. Or maybe some of you have some rules to suggest? Thanks for any help!:chillpill:
