One 100 free to go in set. Two open lanes.(no lane lines in pool) Noodler comes over to stand in my lane to talk with friend. Pool is set at 85 degrees cause all the noodlers say it is to cold otherwise. I complain to guard, am told, "well there are a lot more of them then there are lap swimmers" Wont be if they keep this up. UGH! :frustrated:
I want to start by admitting that I am a terrible person. I try to be a good person, but I'm coping with murderous rage. I have just lost the battle to the noodlers. My heart really started in the right place. I thought, isn't it great that these older ladies, who may have never had the chance to learn to swim, are doing what they can to be healthier. I thought, sure, they don't want to get their hair wet, but they're like my grandma who had her hair helmet glued in place every week by her beauty operator, and it had to last a week. Those thoughts were when the pool was 83 degrees. It has crept up to 85, sometimes 86, and when I asked what was going on, got "90% of the people like it this temperature. You and your husband are the only ones who have said it is too warm."
So today I'm swimming, thinking of all the things it would really be wise not to say. I hope I have the self control. Like, "Oh, I've found the silver lining. When I train in a hostile environment, when I get to a decent pool it is so much more fun and I'm so much faster," Or, "Noodlers just never realize it isn't healthy to swim in bath water until one of the old biddies drops dead." That's almost a curse, isnt' it? I know thoughts have consequences, so I am taking it back, right now, just wishing everyone peace and love, peace and love. And back to my hostile environment tomorrow.
Thanks for being there for me.
Good luck Carol!!
I quit LA Fitness due to the same problems. The noodler classes were so popular there and I knew it was a battle unworthy of fighting so I found a different pool for my extra solo practices. I am much happier and anyone I talk to who is looking for a pool to noodle in I advise to LA Fitness. They should pay me some type of noodler finder's fee!!!!! lol!
