One 100 free to go in set. Two open lanes.(no lane lines in pool) Noodler comes over to stand in my lane to talk with friend. Pool is set at 85 degrees cause all the noodlers say it is to cold otherwise. I complain to guard, am told, "well there are a lot more of them then there are lap swimmers" Wont be if they keep this up. UGH! :frustrated:

I recently quit a club over this issue (too much warm water) and their basic attitude was that more people prefer it at 84 degrees than prefer it at 81 degrees. I hate the warm water and they lost my business...but (despite my strong feelings to the contrary) they may also have a point. And they have every incentive to get it right, too, if they want to be as profitable as possible.
I must admit, the water temp affected my choice of club membership. I went with the no-frills, but proper competition pool and separate leisure pool option, over the 5 lane lap pool, fancy gym, childcare included, aerobics classes included option. So although I don't swim as often as I could if I had on-tap childcare, when I do go, I have a 78F pool with good laneropes and occasionally a choice of all 10 lanes! The noodlers get to use the warmer leisure pool.
I feel the frustration though - I don't like proper swimming in warm water, but I also don't like taking my 3 year old in water under 82F, and one pool really cannot cater for all :(
