She put on a spectacualr performance at the games these past weeks. To bad one of those medals could not have been gold, especially the relay, but silver isn't all bad.
Her ability to perform in 2012 is probably 50% her ability to maintain the level of conditioning she has and 50% what the rest of the field does.
As impressive as I find a 41 y/o getting silver in the olympics to be, I am not certain what it really says about the rest of the US womens team - and other up and coming young swimmers. This might sound bad, but there is no logical reason why the younger swimmers can not swim faster. No doubt Torres is re-writing the history books and the way we look at athletic competition in general, but if there are not at least 5-10 women beating her by 2012 I think that speaks poorly of the future of USA women's swimming.
perhaps she's changed her mind. Only time will tell I suppose.
Given her past record of being able to 'stay retired,' I wouldn't really give her current thoughts on the subject too much credence!
Unless maybe she wants to continue her current relationship!
It's hard for me to see how someone her age, who sacrificed a lot the last couple years, would want to do the same thing again for another four. Or less. Shouldn't she be pretty booked now with endorsements, etc.?

Not only am I jealous that you got to go to Ledo's this past weekend, I'm jealous that you have clearly obtained sainthood. I couldn't say what you did without getting pelted with eggs and tomatoes. One of the downfalls of living in Mayberry is that we don't have cool places like Ledo Pizza. :sad:Also, nobody can be a saint in Mayberry because everybody knows your dirty laundry.
Seems like as close as Dara came to the gold, this would motivate her to try again in 2012. It will all depend on how well she can recover from the surgery and how well she ages.
Hahahaha. The article where her partner says he "can't wait until it's over" is stuck in my mind.
We all like to exercise and train, I was just wondering whether she really wants to carry on with the entourage. I'm guessing she does other things.
SLOmmafan,
Watch out dude !
There are some serious "old people can do anything" Dara is a god worshippers on this forum.
You will get pounded with comments like those.
John Smith
"The Florida mother of a toddler faces four to six weeks of physical therapy. But Torres and her surgeon said she'll be back in the pool in 10 days."
That's good, because there are only 1,429 days to go until the London Games.
What's the over/under on Dara continuing on and making a shot at 2012? At this point I'd be surprised if she didn't. She's swimming faster and in the public eye more than ever. Losing the gold by 0.01 seconds in the 50 has got to eat her up a little, too.
I recall her being interviewed at some point either during or right after the pool events completed and she was asked if she'll be going to London. Her reply was, "Well, perhaps I'll be doing commentary." I don't know if that was before or after the 50 free, if it was before, perhaps she's changed her mind. Only time will tell I suppose.
