Water on the elbow

Anybody else had this? Any advice? I slipped on some algae and fell, elbow first onto concrete. At first the pain was only mild. I went to the gym two days later and swam the following day with hardly any discomfort at all. However, Tuesday last week I noticed swelling. By Wednesday it was the size of a golf ball. The first doc misdiagnosed it. He thought it was an infection from the cut I had sustained when I fell. He gave me some antibiotics. But by the next day when there was no improvement I went back and his partner drained it for me. What came out was essentially water. Now I am on anti-inflammatorys and am going for ultrasound treatment. The swelling has almost gone entirely. The doc says it is okay to exercise (swim) mildly. He is not a swimmer, though and I am not sure if he really understands the effort that goes into swimming. Any docs out there with reccommendations. I don't want to aggravate it in any way but I feel like a caged lion and am just itching to get into the water again. I am meant to be swimming in a meet in 2 weeks time. (Only my second since I started swimming again just over a year ago). It will be really dissappointing if I can't attend.
