Hi all,
First post :wine: !!!
Looking for some info here,
I am looking for a swimsuit.
I have to tell you guys I left the pool for the last 20 years.
I see that the old speedo has changed a lot in the last ...few years, and wanted to know if there's something that could be better suited to my incredible tendency to sink down the pool...
I will be joining the Masters team and swim 3 times/week as cross training for the winter (I ride 5000-7000 mi. cycling in the summer).
I'm 5'10" 175 lbs (short legs, lot of weight on the lower part of the body).
So , with the lower part of the body tendency to sink, is there an advantage to use a specific type of swimsuit ?
I will not spend hundreds of dollars on a swimsuit, the goal is not to save hundredths of a second, but to get something that's used as the norm nowadays.
Got brands and models to suggest ?
Thanks all,
Louis:)
for work out if you want a little extra drag
get a speedo training suit
they last a long time
lycra suits are smaller and faster but wear out much quicker

Depending on how hard you want to train....my personal opinion on drag suits is....they are a waste of time and money....$20-50 for a suit that only lasts a few months.....Seriously buy a pair of Board Shorts...they're usually cheaper, they create more drag, and they last a lot longer....it's what I use.

I finally replaced my Speedo drag suit after over two years of 4 days/wk use. They last WAY longer than a few months. I replaced it with a TYR - we'll see how it compares.
A swimsuit isn't going to help with the sinking legs unless it's made of neoprene. You need to learn to balance your body in the water by pushing down just enough on your chest, which is full of air.
...What about Jammers ?
Being not active in the pool for so long, the last thing I want is something with extra drag !
I will probably have all the difficulty in the world just to cope with others, I would prefer the "fastest" (at least "feeling") suit possible....

I agree about learning to balance. You do not have the same body shape youy had 20 yrs ago. the body remembers how you were and when you try to swim like a competitive teenager, you can't do it.
Keep practicing. Take a few lessons. Swim slow till you are comfortable.
