Phelps Prediction for 200 Fly

I will fall down if he goes sub 1:50 but a 1:50 wouldn't surprise me.

I'm thinking 1:50 high to 1:51 low.

SCY, the hindsight sniper. :joker: The goggles issue had an impact. He wasn't the same on the underwaters coming off the turns.

I am guessing he could have gone 1:51 if he weren't holding back just a little for that 4x200 free relay barely an hour later. :)

Goggles coming off during the dive. What a nightmare, seems like that's one problem that even the mighty speedo hasn't solved. >.

With all that, he STILL managed to lower the record. I wondered about what happened as his 50m turn was way off stroke cycle.

He threw them off right after the swim. He said they messed with his vision for a good part of the race. That could have been all the difference.

Racing with goggles full of water is far worse than no goggles at all. It is impossible to see either in the water or when breathing. Phelps said he had to count strokes to judge the walls. Just think how hard it would be to judge depth off the walls. Only Phelps can win gold and set WRs with his goggles full of water.
