Bousquet will not compete in 100 but 46.63 !!
Leveaux OR but he'll not get the chance too.
Cielo is in the game.
USA WR, solid but a little "unspiring" performance...
Tonight the gold will be wide open leading the way the France with Gilot and Bernard (with Leveaux and Bousquet on the paper all under 48s !! ), The Aussie with Sullivan.

46.06?!?!?!!? WOW!!!
5 teams went under the world record
Phelps went 47.51 to lead off, just .01 off the (now it's the old) world record.
GWG went 47.02
jones went 47.65
Lezak went 46.06 to Bernards 47.63
I was screaming "F you France!" at the TV. It was awesome. My wife was scared.
GWG- "Michael and Bob came by and told me the Frenchies were talking stuff......."
Classic.
I don't think the French can be beat if Bousquet and Levereaux do this again - they will drop 3 sec just one the one split and then probably another on the other. Nobody can match that.
Little surprised by the South Africans - their "big" horses were the slow ones.
WOW Eamon Sullivan what a swim 100m WR WOW Phelps wasn't even close to him! Eamon sizzled in the pool, he'll be very hard to beat in the 50m and 100m freestyle events, he was just smoking hot in the pool!
Congrats to the boys for getting a bronze, great swim boys!

Bernard went 46.73. He tightened up, but not enough to go a mid-47.
I do wonder how much of Lezak's 46.0 was from being ready to swim (we'll find out in the 100), from catching a perfect draft, and from being psyched-out-of-his-gourd relay teammate.
Phelps was just .26 behind Sullivan. I'd say that was plenty close for a middle distance freestyler against a pure sprinter!
I agree. Phelps was right there and did exactly what he needed to do (as did everyone else) to put them in position for the gold. I am quite sure that Phelps is capable of changing gears and if he decides to train for the 100, you will see some serious speed.
