...that I can never make my practice intensity and thus swims anywhere near to race intensity...

  • At the end of practice, right before warmdown, do a 25 free as fast as possible. Just give it everything you've got left. You might surprise yourself. Totally. Fastest time ever. But it took a coach to make me to do it. What I like about not being a swimmer from my teens (at least not someone trained to swim): --I have nothing to compare myself to and agonize over. --Discovery paths are different for an adult. --I know about plateaus. I can take the long view. --It's fun to be in a secret society of nuts, obsessives, etc. --It makes me feel young. :agree: VB
