Hi,
Here's a link to an article
www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/01/AR2008080102590.html
in today's Washington Post that I wrote on performance enhancing drug use by amateur athletes. Thanks again to everyone who responded to my questions on this subject a few months ago. I know there is a lot more to say on the subject so stay tuned.
I've got to say, Red Bull really does seem to help.....
It's a valiant attempt at sensationalism, but I have a hard time feeling worried about my competitors' (or teammates') caffeine and ibuprofen consumption. I would wager that those are the PEDs of choice for most American adults, athletes or not.
I bet the only reason nicotine is not more popular among adult athletes is that the effect on the lungs of its most common delivery method sort of cancels out any beneficial stimulant effect. But come to think of it, if people are taking sudafed just to feel amped up for racing I am surprised they don't try the nicotine patches or gum. Too expensive, maybe.
