    1500 = dead arm? meters or yards? (scy or lcm) i ask because if this is more likely to occur during scy, it might have something to do with your walls (streamline cutting circulation). kristina took feedings every 15 min (i don't swim 1500 anything in 15 min). this is a good strategy to keep hydrated and energized and could break up a longer swim into bits unlikely to produce said undesirable effect. of course, anything less than 10k is typically done sans nutrition.
