Choosing Meets

Need advice. Clarification: I am going to LCM Nats. This is just a question mainly concerned with should I swim a local meet first.
  • Swim in the little meet first just so you don't start reaching for the wall at 25 M.

I'm a pool snob too... I'd swim at Nats. It will be exciting to swim in a great venue... the fast, cool water will feel great... and you will have plenty of competition to keep you motivated. Have fun! :wiggle:
  • Not against you...BEHIND you! Ha, ha, ha, ha. WHo is seeded in front of who?
  • Thanks Leslie! I'm hoping it's just a temporary lack of confidence and serious case of trying to do too much. Best case scenario, I get some rest & regain some zip in the pool. Paul gets too pumped up about the whole meet to do poorly. I know I'll miss him being there for the 1500. He's the best on deck support system out there! Whaddya say Paul--come out on Thursday to be On Deck Coach for Michelle & me??? I land at Portland at 12:45pm, so depending on timeline, there is a really good chance I'll be able to make to the pool by about 1:30. Heck, I might just go directly to the pool from the airport. I'm not doing checked baggage so hopefully that will happen. If I'm there, I'll be cheering for ya!!!!!!
  • You should swim both. Racing LC is a different art and a test run will be a big help, IMO.
  • Yeah... I am going to need about 10 different people counting for me... those laps are too long, and I will be off count! Paul... you da best. I hope you make it there to see us go back and forth... back and forth... etc etc etc

Don't get bummed!!! You always swim very well at your taper meets. I have total confidence in you doing well at LC Nats. Don't judge by little in season meets. I think Hulk will do well at Nats either way. He's improving every meet basically, and his starts and turns are already good. If anything, Hulkster needs to get to the pool more regularly and then really watch out! Thanks Leslie! I'm hoping it's just a temporary lack of confidence and serious case of trying to do too much. I would definitely swim the nationals if I had to pick one. The second pool sounds gross. If I could do both meets, however, I would. The more meets the better- that way you could gain more experience. Also, any swim meet is great fun :) Good luck in nationals, and in whatever meets you decide to do!
