Need advice.
Clarification: I am going to LCM Nats. This is just a question mainly concerned with should I swim a local meet first.

Having just swam my one annual LC meet this past weekend, I can tell you there is no way I would fly across the country to swim LC without having prepared myself well in a LC pool...including some LC races. Do the stinky pool meet. It will build character. What does not kill you only makes you stronger...or sick. :)
I say get in the warm icky pool... practice makes perfect... and hey, we just drove all the way to CT for a taste of the race. Hey... only 4 weeks to go!
I'm all for getting in the practice, but if you won't be in your best shape--skip the little meet. Granted, this is coming from someone who practices LCM year round, but I'd rather go into the big meet pumped and ready than bummed after a poor performance at a smaller meet.
Unfortunately, I'm in the bummed camp right now after so-so performances at two tune-up meets recently. That, and my 6th event (dropped) is the one for which I was feeling most confident.:frustrated: Friends don't let friends get bummed before nationals.
Are you wondering about this Sunday? I'd swim just to get some LCM meet time in. That's what I'm doing it for. No taper, go fast and see what I can do.
That is brave to have your first meet in 21 years at Nationals. I got back in the water in November 2007 and I am just comfortable enough to swim at Zones Champs this summer.

Tom,
This would be my fisrt LCM meet in 21 years. I broke the ice for my first meet in 20 years back in Oct and I went to SCY Nats in Austin in April.
I'm like a rat on crack when I get back into a sport. Hopefully this one will be for the rest of my life.

Don't get bummed!!! You always swim very well at your taper meets. I have total confidence in you doing well at LC Nats. Don't judge by little in season meets.
I think Hulk will do well at Nats either way. He's improving every meet basically, and his starts and turns are already good. If anything, Hulkster needs to get to the pool more regularly and then really watch out!
