Hello fellow USMS athletes.
With the upcoming 2008 Olympics, I thought now would be an opportune time to undertake this auction of Dara Torres', Rowdy Gaines', and Gary Hall Sr's autographs. 100% of proceeds will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
As many know, Gary Hall Jr. has Juvenile Diabetes and must inject insulin several times daily. He is the national spokesman for the JDRF.
At the 2006 USMS SC Nationals, I had Dara, Rowdy, and Gary Sr each autograph a can of Barbasol shaving cream, with the understanding that these cans would be auctioned to benefit the JDRF. Dara, Rowdy, and Gary Sr graciously support this effort. Of note, the Barbasol can is a "collectors item" that was the first in a series of "Real Men" photographs. Gary Hall Jr was pictured on the can, along with his Olympic feats. I have a total of 3 of these - one each autographed by Dara Torres, Rowdy Gaines, and Gary Hall Sr.
ALL proceeds will benefit JDRF. I will open the bidding at $25 each - use this thread to increase the bids. Auction will end on the 08/08/08, the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. I challenge everyone to make a good effort on this. Thanks for your interest, and remember this is for a good cause.
While I support the concept of raising awareness of Gary’s condition and raising money to support him, the USMS discussion forum does not allow this. May I suggest you take your offer to ebay, craig’s list or other sites.
