Generic brand shark-skin tech suits

How good are they? I um... misread the fine print and bought one on ebay and am now stuck w/ it. The brand is NSA... from Japan. I remember meeting a great swimmer who did a lot of business in Japan and was always sporting a new tech suit, but I never asked him about the quality. Also, it's ... um... big on me. I set aside 45 minutes to put it on 'cuz I thought I was getting an FS Pro. (Damn i feel so stupid!). And this slipped on in 2 seconds. Should I even bother wearing it at nationals? Maybe for relays and the events where I barely have a chance to score points (looking at you, 100 backstroke!)?

One of my teammates bought one and had the same experience. He doesn't plan to wear it at Nationals.

Carlos I bought an NSA high neck, full legs suit off ebay a few months ago. (I knew it wasn't a Speedo!) I had only worn a pair of Yingfa sharkskin leggings for a recent meet, and no experience with Speedo, TYR, etc. It is only as tight as a pair of running tights and slipped on in about ten seconds. I didn't know that meant it was 'too big' until I read that some folks take 20 minutes or more to put on the PRO and the LZR! But I definitely felt like I was getting a benefit from the suit - it felt fast. And after 6 years out of the water and eight months back in the water, I'm going the same times as back then. So I certainly don't think the suit is holding me back. If the NSA suit feels pretty skin tight (hugs your legs but you can pull the fabric away from your skin without a pair of pliers, like the PRO apparently requires), and your other option is a brief, I would go with the NSA suit. Just my two cents.

Here’s one good reason not to wear an imitation shark skin suit while swimming in the ocean: www.sfgate.com/.../article.cgi A real shark might think you are infringing on its territory and take aggressive action. By the way, it's not a good idea to wear a Fastskin or LZR in the ocean either. A shark might mistake you for a new kind delicacy to add to its normal diet of seals and sea lions. :bolt: Dolphin 2

If the suit's really too big for you, take it with you to Nationals. You may be able to sell it to someone there.
