I think you misinterpreted her intent. It just didn't come out very well. She IS great in every stroke (other than ***) so she SHOULD be good in IM. The part that was off-putting was the whole "I don't even know how to swim that race" stuff. Kind of demeaning to all the other swimmers who do know how to swim it, but still couldn't beat her.
A couple on collegeswimming.com are speculating she'll scratch the 200 IM for the Olympics. I'm skeptical, but we do know she doesn't like to overload on events.
Natalie is a diva and always has been. I admire her skill but I do not admire her.
I would not be surprised if she scratched the IM. She will not beat Hoff in Beijing and might lose to Rice. Natalie doesn't like to swim events she doesn't have very strong odds to win gold. She skipped 100 fly because the Aussies will go 1-2. She skipped 200 free because Hoff would beat her.
hoffam, there is something personal about your attacks on Nat. That is okay, but only if you tell us why!
Nothing personal at all. I don't know her, never met her. I read the book Golden Girl, and found the book OK. Nat is very visible, gets interviewed often, and I find her arrogant and elitist most of the time. If anyone is going to interview well after a 200 IM - it should be Coughlin.
Unlike Phelps, Lochte, Hoff, and a few others who will race anyone, anytime, anywhere - Natalie races the events that she thinks she can't be beaten. If Lochte thought like her he'd just not show up since he is always against Phelps or Peirsol.
I'm not normally a root for the underdog kind of person. But I wanted Kukors to get the 2nd spot.
Did anyone else notice the foot positions on the starts. Especialy the rear foot. It appears that a lot of the swimmers do not have the back foot lined up properly.

According to whom?
Actually according to me. I just do not like the rear foot having the toes pointing out ward and the heel in. But again that is my opinion and scyfreestyler you must think it has no relevance what you do with the feet on a dive.

My opinion is that the fastest swimmers in the world are doing it this way. I'm not going to suggest that they are wrong.
