  • crockers walls help more SCM & SCY a bit of the inside scoop from 2004 Olympics was crocker was sick during or just before the 4 x 100 free relay (had either a cold or the flu can't remember which) eddie argued to have crocker take a flying start instead of being lead off flat start, crocker probably would have split 48 something, 2 other coaches present wanted to "protect" their swimmers, they didn't want them to lead off and it cost us at the time phelps wasn't as strong on flying starts, maybe we would have done better if Phelps went first. we might not have caught South Africa who was 3:13.17, but maybe we could have nipped Netherlands who went 3:14.36 we were 3:14.62 en.wikipedia.org/.../Swimming_at_the_2004_Summer_Olympics That statement is 99.5% true. At the 2004 trials walls made the difference between 2nd and 3rd. As a result he locked his spot on the relay, and the US finished 3rd!
