  • Here are my picks for tonights finals. Men's 200 *** - Hansen will win and maybe challenge the WR. For the second slot it will be between Spann and Shanteau with Scott Usher with an outside chance. I am going to go with Spann very slightly but I know I picked him to win the NCAA 200 *** and he went about .75 slower than what he was capable of. I don't think he will that tonight but if he does Shanteau will get the spot. Usher could be a spoiler but he will have to swim better than he did in 2004 when he made the team. Women's 200 Fly - I would like to see a couple of veterans make it like Mary Descenza and Kim Vandanberg but don't think they can beat the two top swimmers Breeden and Hersey the way they have been swimming at this meet and in the last 6 months. So I am going with Breeden to win and Hersey to take second. Men's 100 Free - I am going to pick Jason Lezak to win and challenge for the WR. He seens to do very well at OT and in 2004 won this easily over the others when he set the AM back then. It won't be so easy but I see him getting in there at least for the first 2 spots. I am picking Weber-Gale for the second slot because of that :47.78 swim he had in the heats. For the 3rd thru 6th slots its to close to call and its anybody's ball game. I think the last 2 guys will feel real bad because they won't make the team. Of course of these second four, only one will be able to make the final 400 Relay unless they go faster than the Phelps :47.92 either now or in the prelims at the Olympics.
