  • Lane 0 is the lane next to lane 1 and lane 9 is next to lane 8. Both are outside lanes. I dont think anyone is really concerned with the seeding. There are more concerns about seeing the heat sheets. The women's 800 was called for lightning and then after canceling the heats for the evening brought them back. The said they were going to have them swim at the lunch break. Now it is posted that they will swim at 8:15 on Tuesday (relay day). Interesting races seen: Suzanne Heim-Bowen beat Shane Gould in the 100 free. Suzanne was first of the block (good start) and held a half-a-body length lead at the turn. She held off Shane at the end to take first place (1:02.31) to Shane's (1:02.95). There was a lot of cheering for Shane by the local crowd and the end had a big awww. (except for the Americans who were wildly cheering Suzanne). Shane also had a lot of pressure on her. Local TV was following her march to the blocks and there were plenty of mikes around here. Both Sue and Shane could have been DQed as they left the pool by going over the top as opposed to going to the side to get out. They were told not to do it again. Laura Val took the women's 55-59 100 Free. She went a 1:02.45 to Heather Campbell 1:03.45. Heather told Laura it was the fastest 100 she had swim. I heard Bobbi Calison (Rinconada) took first in the 200 back ( have not seen the results). Carol MacPherson Rinconada took 5th in the 100 Fr. 64 yr old Ken Frost of TAM took first in the 100Breaststroke. He was about two body length ahead at the finish. Larry Krauser took first in the 800 Free. He was in third most of the race and at the last 100 took off to win the event. Afterward he went to play water polo with Kaos. Richard Todd (TCAM) took second in the 100 Breaststroke. Suzanne Heim-Bowen took first in the 800 Free, breaking Laura Vals record by about 4 seconds. She was the only woman to break 10 minutes (at least those results that were posted). Tracy Grilli took 5th in the 800. Tracy scratch the 100 Free so she could play Water polo. (If I read the score correctly her team was beat 20-2). Rich Burns took second in the 200 back. I broke my seed time and finished in the top 80% of my age group (both personal goals) in the 800 Free. michael
