Hey everyone,
since a bunch of us USMS swimmers are heading off to Omaha for the Swim Trials, I'm wondering how we can make the biggest impact in our vocal/visual support of Susan von der Lippe.
We'll be spread out, so that may make things a bit diluted.
I'm thinking of having some professional signs made up that we can wave. If someone with artistic skills can do a design where people across the arena can read the results (i.e. gotta be BIG for us poor eyesighted old people), I'd be happy to look into getting a bunch printed up that we can distribute.
Anyone else got any ideas?
Mel,
In another thread I said I would be leading the cheering section for Susan. As soon as I hit the send button I realized I should have said "Mel and I ...." Sorry about the oversight.
Rich
I think we should have a few signs printed up that say
"Old Geezers Rule"
GO SUSAN!!!!
. . . Mel - I'd rather see some women baring their chest than Rich baring his.

Rich,
no offense taken. My intention is to see if we can make/distribute some professional looking placards to the interested group. I've already got one suggestion for a graphic artist via PM. I'll see what other responses come in.
I'm hoping you'll be the guy who bares his chest and paints Susan on it in orange and blue letters. If you want to dye your hair that's OK too. I'd volunteer but, as you know, my head is deficient in the hair department to the tune of all...
See you tomorrow!
Time to get serious about this.
I have a sign, attached below, that I will be distributing in Omaha for those of you who would like to give Susan von der Lippe some visual support for her swims. There will be no charge, so all I need is a head count.
The sign is two 11 X 17 80 pound card stock placards fastened to a 22 X 17 piece of poster board with a crease in the middle. It will fold up to 11 X 17 when it is not being used and open quickly to display the message shown below. I have tested it and it can be read at a distance of 200 feet, so should be easily visible from the deck (except by Susan herself who is very nearsighted!). Maybe Rowdy and the TV cameras will give her some publicity if enough of us show up with posters.
Anyhow, I need a head count, since each one has to be assembled individually. So far I have had positive responses in Austin from
Rich Abrahams
Mel Dyck
Grace Dyck
Karl Stewart
Kevin Polanski
If any others lurking or participating in these forums want one, please let me know ASAP. Or, if you know of someone who would want one but who may not participate in the forums, please forward me their names.
Not sure how I'll get them passed out yet but we'll deal with that later.
