Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the boards and thought I would come on and introduce myself. My name is Chris I'm 27 years after about 7 years I'm very exciting to get back into swimming. When I was growing up I was always fortunate enough to live with a pool or on a lake so I was a very active swimmer; although I did take some lessons through intermediate levels as a child I never was a competitve swimmer. We moved off the Lake a few years back so it's been about 7 years since I've been consistantly swimming.
When I was younger I was able to swim across my lake no problem (1/2mile), but now a few laps at the school seem to be a challenge...heheh. My main goal out of swimming is to get my body in shape and looking good, and I know the basic fundemantals of most strokes, but I would also like to gain a more advanced knowledge of the sport, and increase my techniques.
I was wondering if anyone could point me into the right direction for learning more of the lingo, and other things a leasure swimmer would need to learn when trying to get more in-depth to this awsome sport.
Also, what kind of swimming do you guys suggest I do when starting out? I've been twice so far and I've been doing about 30-40 min taking small breaks after a lap or two across the pool with various strokes just to get my heart rate going and muscles developed. All help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Chris
