Last night at practice the transition set looked like this:
4x {2x50 scull on 1:15,
150 pull breathe 3/5/7 by 50 on 2:15}
The 2:15 was too fast for my lane partner and I so we lengthened that a bit. My question is regarding the bilateral breathing. I still am basically incapable to breathing (really, getting a breath) on my left side. I don't think it's a timing thing. I think my diaphragm or rib muscles just don't want to let me inhale when I'm turned to my left. I've basically given up and just add an extra stroke to the breathing interval (breathe every 4/6/8 in the above set), always breathing on my right side.
I do concentrate on rolling my body to the left and keeping my entry/catch timing as balanced as I can make it. Am I really shortchanging myself by not breathing bilaterally?
Thx,
