Pool in Vancouver BC?

Greetings I am planning a trip to Vancouver BC in July(19-23) and we would like to get a few swims in. I see a number of pools, Vancouver Aquatic Center, UBC, Kitsilano Pool. Can anyone suggest where to get in a few lap swims while there? Any events that are worth attending while in town? We are excited for our first visit to the city. Thanks in advance. Spudfin

  • I haven't swum in any pools in Vancouver, although if I had I think Kitsilano would have been my first choice just for the setting. If you have any interest in open water swimming, though, check with the Vancouver Open Water Swimming Association (http://www.vowsa.bc.ca/). They have organized swims at Kits Beach a couple evenings per week. All you have to do is show up and pay a modest drop-in fee. Most people wear wet suits but if you don't mind 30-45 min. in 65F water you don't need one. If you want one I think you can rent them nearby. When I went there was a wide range of speeds. Also, it seems VOWSA will be hosting a race series at Kits Beach while you are there.
