John Smith is a cheater

He just broke two 45-49 records unrested and at altitude (meet in Denver): Clay Britt's 100 IM where he went 54.1 and Jack Groselle's 100 free where he went 47.4. Now read this post carefully Amy because I do not want there to be ANY confusion (and i can't handle any more beatings this week) as I am saying for FACT that I know he cheats...no rumors, no gossip, no nothing...here's the deal: - I know for a FACT that after he saw a Seinfeld epsiode where Jerry changes the size on his jeans from a 32 to a 30 he did the same. Let's face it, a stressed out, over the hill telecom exec with high blood pressure a major house remodel and 3 kids needing college scholorships they won't get because of foreign swimmers there's no way his waist is the same size as when he ws in high school...this speaks to his character and willingness to lie/cheat. - John routinely exceeds the allowable limits set down by the championship committee for motrin and caffeine. The caffeine typically in the form of a starbucks double shot 15 minuted before his race and the motrin about 30 minutes after...and every 4 hours for the rest of the week. - He is also training with a kids swim team...ostensibly to embarrass his daughter but we also know that rule #101-1 from USMS states clearly that masters swimmers are not allowed to break records if they are not training with a masters team...even if it makes a child unhappy. - He's a liberal - He drives an Element - He got a Longhorn tattoo on his back/shoulder as a 40 year old (thankfully he scuffed it up hitting the bottom of the pool practicing backstroke starts/sdk's) So as you can see...a cheater...and his records should be erased. Thankfully inspite of all of this he has not taken down his most sought after/cherished record...the holy grail...the 50 free!

Was there a Fastskin involved? And how the heck do you keep your Starbucks from getting cold during the meet?

Wait, wait, wait just a minute now. :notworking: Caffeine and "ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, Nuprin, Medipren) a drug used for the management of mild to moderate pain, fever, and inflammation" are completely acceptable as PEDs for Masters swimmers. I've read the documentation, sat in on Championship Committee meetings at Convention, and personally tested various levels of the two in chemistry combinations and they are NOT of concern. In fact, I believe the majority of committee members are "users" as well as John. Based on this particular claim, I do not agree that John is a "cheater" since, if that is true, then most of the committee members would be cheaters as well. The other claims, however, well, sorry John, they may hold some validity.

Paul, you know that John is a very sensitive, shy and retiring fellow; your expose will probably cause him to withdraw completely from forum discussion a la Bezian precedent.

Was there a Fastskin involved? quote] I can only speak for JS he was in legskins only......I hear from a very good source that he will be wearing something new and hard to find in Austin. I hope Paul's contacts are as good or he is going to need a really great taper!!! I'm looking forward to watching a couple of great races....My bet is on Smith.

Jim....not even Gill can approach the level of usage my evil twin has gone to...anything and everything to gain back his most cherished of records. The seething anger he felt the day of his 45th birthday as he realized the 40-44 records will fall to another has emboldened his cheating...even worse his 12 year old son can almost look him in the eye and is close to beating him in the 50/100 fly..he is an angry, angry man!
  • Well then, I cheat also. I had my hip replaced -TWICE - to get the best one I could! I take pain pills,hi blood pressure pills & aspirn. It still did not make me faster?? Now what?

  • I can't back up any of Paul's arguments, but I'm willing to bet John went past vertical on his back-*** turn. He did it years ago when we raced, and I'm sure old habits die hard.
