Why are Sullivan, Bernard, Cielo, and Trickett so fast?

I thought it would be good to discuss Why (or how) are Sullivan, Bernard, Cielo, and Trickett so fast? I thought this would make an interesting discussion get into the details Ande

    Gosh, in the 1960's Steve Clark's physique was weight lifter in every respect. He proved THEN that this physique was more then enough to set world record sprint records. Their is a joke in aviation that if enough thrust is applied to a building, you can make it fly. The same holds true in swimming---apply enough thrust and it WILL FLY! Their are many ways to reach the same goal---and to date none have proven right---or wrong. Sullivan and Bernard are one example of this fact.
