The Fall of Auburn

The women's team swims lights out at conferance and craters at NCAA's now the men are in a battle to finish 4th... No one ever revealed the entire story behind Marsh's departure...interesting that Quick was brought in mid-season...takes the rains...and now we see the results...so...one more year or is he gone after this season?

Texas women finishing in 14th place at this year's NCAAs was even more shocking. It'd be interesting to hear about what's going on from someone closer to the source...

How about "that's 9 more points than UCLA got!!!:banana::banana:" Leave it to a USC fan to gloat over the demise of a sport he/she supposedly loves. :shakeshead: :laugh2:
  • Leave it to a USC fan to gloat over the demise of a sport he/she supposedly loves. :shakeshead: :laugh2: I'm not a USC fan... I just tried to think like one for a minute. The result: 3 dancing bananas?!?
  • For somebody w/ over 2500 posts, you sure don't get this whole Innernets thingy... What? I was his first coach and I later swam for him at Auburn. You coached Marsh and swam for him? How does that work?
  • O.k.: I'll spell it out. On a message board you can be as creative as you want and pretend to know more than you know. It's not responsible, sure. But I was making a joke about "poetic license". This doesn't happen as much on these boards b/c a ton of posters use their real name, so there's less of an anonymous flavor. Some athletic boards -- like US Waterpolo -- require real names for screen-names b/c posters used to front like they were more knowledgeable, more experienced and had more connections than they really did in a non-virtual world. Creativity and poetic license. :) I'm confused. By explaining the joke, on the day before April Fool's no less, what room have you left yourself for tomorrow? Unless... hmmm... I figured it out! Everything you said before is true! YOU HAVE A TIME MACHINE! Can I stop by later and email today's lottery numbers to myself yesterday? kthxbye
  • on the day before April Fool's no less Thanks for reminding me. When I see someone post "Fina bans Speedo LZR suit!" tomorrow it won't even faze me ;)
  • Thanks for reminding me. When I see someone post "Fina bans Speedo LZR suit!" tomorrow it won't even faze me ;) Fake news is not a concern of mine on April Fool's. I'm worried that you'll post a video of your "stroke technique" that will turn out to be you shaving your legs. I must not click links on April Fool's I must not click links on April Fool's I must not click links on April Fool's
  • I'm worried that you'll post a video of your "stroke technique" that will turn out to be you shaving your legs. Stroke technique, huh? It could be worse than someone shaving their legs... I think I'll let someone else post that one. I, too, will avoid clicking.

I have absolutely no personal knowledge about Auburn or Marsh and as far as I know they're pure as the driven snow. For somebody w/ over 2500 posts, you sure don't get this whole Innernets thingy... "I am a long-time colleague and friend of Marsh; I was his first coach and I later swam for him at Auburn. We just had lunch the other day, so I think my opinion is more betterer than yours." I went to UCLA, and when I saw the comment about USC only scoring nine points, the first thing that went through my head was, "well, that's 9 more than UCLA scored", though I didn't visualize it with three dancing bananas. As an alum myself, that's what I thought as well. I just wanted to throw out a little dig. :duel: :D
  • I think anytime you have a coaching change, it is bound to cause a temporary set-back. Give Auburn time, they WILL be back. David Marsh was a phenomenal coach - especially for sprinters due to his start/turn work. Hopefully Quick's ego will allow him to realize he can apply some of Marsh's practices to his program and be successful again. Marsh was not forced out. He was offered a better job at a USS Olympic Training Center of Excellence....the first of it's kind in the US. I think his morals are pretty impeccable......I don't know him personally but have never heard a negative thing about him.....why else would he have been hired for such a high position?
