I applaud Gary Hall Jr. for having the brass and the knowledge to raise questions that we tend to shy away from. I also remember the bashing Shirley Babashoff got when she openly spoke out against the East German cheaters. Surly Shirley is the title they hung around her neck and she was dead on target. She was also robbed of her rightful place in history by a bunch of cheating no good lousy thieves. Hall raises a very, very interesting question with respect to the “probability” of both Eamon and his girl friend having the same outrageous drops in time, both rapidly jumping to the head of the swimming world from a good way back in the pack and one of them did so with multiple injuries. Possible---Yes! Plausible? Believable? Not to me! There are enough reasons, history and facts that exist to warrant Hall’s and others skepticism regarding these swims. The same can be said----ahh---no---shouted about Dara’s comeback. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but we still have the right to have serious doubts about their innocents. I for one am going to be the biggest “I told you so” if any of these swimmers is ever caught.
