"Because of the new swim suit technology, I think records are eventually going to not really be relevant. It's going to be more about the racing," Schubert said.
Swimming, the new triathlon!
There's no need to make personal attacks on this forum.
I don't believe I said anything negative...it is, of course, revealing that you chose to interpret it that way. No money left for the LZR after blowing your bike budget, hmmmm?
My triathlete friend -- who regularly thrashes me on the bike -- regularly comments that swimming is just trying to emulate cycling with all this. Let's see..gear envy: check...constant doping allegations: you betcha.
Uh oh.

I do believe Geek was being sarcastic. He'd wear a fastskin if his lovely wife would let him. And don't forget the line item in the budget for jolt gum.
As the only forum regular brave enough to tackle the land-based aquaphobes, that attack by Chris went right to the bone, a deep cutting. And, from a fellow 'Heel too, almost unbearable.
Ooh, speaking of jolt gum, I've hit caffeine nirvana with the Clif Shot electrolyte drink WITH CAFFEINE - I suggest making it at twice the recipe!
Someone should offer $50,000 if anyone can break 21.50 or 47.50 in a regular brief. Or perhaps just $50k to the fastest 100m LCM time in a regular brief in 2008. That should settle the debate about the role of the suits.
Ah ha!! :oldman: ..... but what is "regular" anymore......

I agree with you 1000%.
With this "suit technology" stuff, swimming is being turned into a NASCAR kind of spectacle instead of the elite athtletic endeavor it has been for over 50 years and my never-ending pet peeve is the hassle of suiting up your body in some kind of "costume" to go in the water.
If I had to wear a body suit (instead of going in the water about 95% "Au Natural" in briefs) in my old swimming days, I would have never taken it up at all and just stayed on dry land.
