John and Paul, although I have expressed my displeasure at recruited relays in the past I applaud your effort.Anything that gets more people swimming and competing is good.Reunion relays seem a great idea.My beef is relays that have no reason except to win:the"gee we have a good freestyler and flyer,I saw a good breaststroker at a meet last year and who was that backstroker,I've never met him but I'll give him a call"relays.
Allen, a few years back in Ft. Lauderdale John, myself and a dedicated group of swimmers in Colorado harassed every swimmer we knew in the state to come out of the woodworks and swim...and try and win...and we did and it was awesome. I would like to try and do the same here in AZ in the future but something else came up.
This year in Austin the original plan was trying to get swimmers motivated by getting realigned with their college teams and compete....sadly that fell thru for the most part so JS came up with another plan to try and keep us from getting fat, bored and out of shape...hence the high school relay record (we did the same at Indy a few years back trying to get the 200 free record). It lured Glen & Rowdy to join in and I hope in future years we'll find more creative ways to get people back on board (sadly with Gaberino and Switzer it will only happen if the meet goes back to Hawaii).
