Has anyone else ever used the chopat tennis elbow strap while swimming? I (foolishly) have been painting my whole downstairs while also upping my swimming yardage and weights. Today I suddenly couldn't straighten my arm without much stiffness and minor pain. It sounds identical to what my husband had from lifting months ago. He was diagnosed as having tennis elbow.
I have caught it early (I think/hope) as it hasn't hurt at all before today and it doesn't hurt when I don't try to straighten or twist. I'm not sure if I should swim with it or not but thought I'd ask about anyone else's experiences. I'm kind of hoping that stopping the painting will allow me to swim after a few days. Any thoughts???:help:
Thanks for the links geochuck but I don't think my problem stems from swimming. I've never had any elbow problems (even when swimming 60,000+ yards a week). The biggest thing that's changed recently is my painting. I've painted 4 rooms in my house this last couple of weeks and I think that repetitive motions from painting are most likely my problem. I'm sure swimming could have exacerbated things but, like I said, I haven't ever had any swimming-related elbow problems before this. Reminds me of my Dad (who played tennis many times a week when I was younger). He never got "tennis elbow" until he did construction on a room in our house and was wielding a hammer for hours at a time.
I was wanting to compete in a meet in a week and a half but I may back off if my elbow bugs me the next few days. I swam this morning and had no pain whatsoever. The only thing I did this morning that might have aggrievated something would have been vacuuming the floor...
