so i've notices that I am very good at the drill where you do dolphin kicks instead of breaststroke kick. We were doing 100's (SCY) with fins and i went a 56 doing the dolphin kick. This is 11 seconds faster than my regular 100 ***.
I want to know if any of you have tips for taking on the wave style breaststroke. I feel I can go much faster this way.
Also, i felt so fast in breaststroke during practice earlier this week, like a made a breakthrough, but now my stroke feels like sh1t, and i keep sinking after every pull. Why does this happen?
btw, i go a 1:06 scy.
want to get that down to a 1:00.

It is all about timing, reducing resistance and catch the water right?
I had a big "aha" experience when i started bending my knees during the leg recovery rather than bending my hips....it has taken me 6 months to get the same power in the kick as I had before (i needed much more flexibility in my feet to do it) but now I have much less resistance since my feet and legs are behind me (in already disturbed water) rather than under me (in still-standing water).
Another thing I have learned was the "fast hands" from Dave Denniston and Brendan Hansen GoSwim DVDs. It feels awkward in the beginning, but it simply is faster.
Reg "wave breaststroke" there is a good series of pictures and comments here:

Good luck!

PS If you have the possibility to post videos of you while swimming it will be much easier to comment your improvement areas. Preferrably underwater footage from side and front/rear. I did that and got fantastic feedback a couple of weeks ago. DS
