The Brits this year introduced a decathlon competition, see
www.britishswimming.org/.../0,10853,5157-183850-201068-nav-list,00.html
The event is based on an age adjusted scoring system. Total score is based on points from up to 10 events, up to 2 each taken from 6 groups: 4 strokes 50-200, distance free and IM.
Scottish swimming has been doing this for a while.

Do any of the regions of USMS do something similar? Is there interest in introducing a USMS decathlon?

For a true decathlon - similar to the track and field version - shouldn't it be made up of all different kinds or aquatic events? Day one, you have to do a synchro routine in a sparkly costume to music, then a 50 free, then a 25m underwater swim, followed by 200m butterfly. Day two, some kind of water polo where everyone plays as an individual instead of as a team, then platform diving, then 100m backstroke, then 400 free. Day three....
